How Does Bioidentical Hormone Pellet Therapy Work?

Middle aged woman wearing glasses looks dejected as she fans herself during a hot flash Entering your 40s, 50s, and beyond can bring unwanted shifts in your hormones, leading to symptoms that may disrupt your life.

About 80% of women suffer hot flashes during menopause, and they’re just one of the many symptoms that can appear during this time. For men, symptoms can be just as intrusive and often start at around the same age as their testosterone naturally declines.

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) could be the solution, allowing months of relief at a time.

Double board-certified and fellowship-trained plastic surgeon Dr. Tracy M. Pfeifer understands how these changes can affect you. She believes these years can be your best yet with the right hormone management. Dr. Pfeifer offers BHRT in our comfortable, private offices at Hamptons Plastic Surgery in Quogue, NY.

Her highly personalized approach is designed to help you feel balanced and revitalized. Understanding that each stage of life brings unique needs, Dr. Pfeifer supports both men and women as they achieve optimal health.

The Bioidentical Hormone Pellet Therapy Process

Bioidentical hormone pellet therapy uses plant-based hormones chemically identical to those your body naturally produces. At Hamptons Plastic Surgery, we use Biote®, the leading name in BHRT.

These are the steps in the BHRT process:

Lab Testing

The process starts with lab testing to identify your specific hormone levels and determine what dosage will relieve your symptoms. Dr. Pfeifer customizes your treatment, tailoring the dose to match your unique hormone needs and goals.

Pellet Insertion

Biote pellets are smaller than a grain of rice. During a quick office-based procedure, Dr. Pfeifer inserts the pellets under your skin (generally in the upper buttocks).

Hormone Release

Over time, the pellets release a consistent level of hormones directly into your bloodstream, ensuring stable levels without the dips or spikes often experienced with other delivery methods. This approach can help reduce symptoms, making you feel more balanced, energetic, and focused.

Because the hormones are the closest possible thing to your own, there are usually few, if any, side effects.

Future Treatments

Once the pellets are in place, you don’t need to worry about daily applications, as the treatment lasts 3-6 months (varying based on sex, your body’s absorption rate, weight, and hormone levels during insertion). If symptoms start to reappear, schedule your next pellet therapy session in our office to keep your hormones stable and steady.
